By the time we meet on the beach, we’ve already exchanged messages, agreed on the vibe, and I’ve seen your reference photos. There’s no surprise handoff — it’s the same person from the first “hello” to the final gallery.
That’s the real difference in the price. A big platform’s fee mostly pays for the app, the support team, and the margin — the photographer they send you often earns close to what a direct booking pays, sometimes less. And on the cheapest marketplace listings, the person who shows up isn’t always the person in the portfolio photos.
I keep my price close to what a local, independent photographer in Phuket actually charges — not what an app decides to mark it up to, and not so low that I have to rush your gallery to make it work.
If a quote looks cheaper, it’s worth asking three things: who exactly is coming to photograph you, how many of your photos actually get edited, and who you’d contact if something goes wrong on the day. Those answers are usually where the price difference lives.
